Hey there! How's your February so far? Could you use a little bit of fun and inspiration, by any chance? If so, you're in luck! I have a few new obsessions that you might like, too:)
This interview with artist Julie Mehretu is a gem! Julie Mehretu creates intensely detailed, large-scale, abstract drawings and in this episode of Are We On Air, she shares how music has influenced her art. After listening, I have become obsessed with Ethio-Jazz -- Ethiopian Jazz from the 1960's. It is incredibly cool and perfect for a mid-morning dance break!
McSweeny's Internet Tendency is another obsession. Lauded as a key barometer of the literary climate by The New York Times, this website posts smart, funny articles with a bit of a sardonic twist, such as: "I’m Beginning to Think You Don’t Care About the Forty-Seven Valentines I Need to Take to School Tomorrow." Good stuff;)
Whenever I find myself in a creative slump or just wanting to learn a new technique, Skillshare is my go-to resource. This site has a ton of great instructional videos. Some favorites include:
